What is the FLL Competition?
What are 2024 Robot Game Missions?

The LEGO FIRST LEGO League (FLL) competition is a global robotics competition designed for students aged 9 to 14. It is part of the FIRST programs, which aim to inspire young people's interest and participation in science and technology. FLL not only emphasizes how robot is built (Robot Design), how robot performs (Robot Game), but also on students doing research, presentation to audience (Innovation Project) and teamwork (Core Values).

Here are some key aspects of the LEGO FLL competition:

  1. Challenge Theme: Each year in August, FLL introduces a new challenge theme related to real-world problems (Ocean theme for 2024-2025 season). Teams of students must identify and solve challenges within the given theme using LEGO Prime robotics kits.

  2. LEGO Prime: Teams use LEGO Prime or similar robotic kits to design, build, and program autonomous robots. These robots perform specific tasks on a themed playing field.

  3. Innovation Project: In addition to the robot game, teams are required to research and present a solution to a real-world problem related to the annual theme. This project encourages students to apply STEM concepts to address issues in their communities.

  4. Core Values: FLL emphasizes core values such as teamwork, collaboration, respect, and sportsmanship. Teams are evaluated not only on their technical skills but also on their ability to work together effectively.

  5. Tournaments: Regional, national, and international tournaments take place where teams showcase their robots, present their projects, and engage in teamwork challenges. The tournaments provide a platform for students to demonstrate their skills and learn from each other.

  6. Innovation and Creativity: FLL encourages creativity and innovation by allowing teams to come up with unique solutions to the challenges presented in the competition. This fosters a spirit of exploration and problem-solving.

  7. Global Participation: FLL is a global competition, and teams from different countries participate. This provides students with the opportunity to interact with peers from diverse backgrounds and cultures.

LEGO FLL competition is an engaging and educational experience that promotes STEM education, teamwork, and critical thinking skills among young students. It combines the fun of building and programming robots with the real-world application of solving meaningful problems.
